Our Story
King's Cross School was established in Galgal, Haiti in 2011 by Jason and Ginger Lovan, along with their three children. The Lovan family is from northeast Oklahoma.
The Haitian government offered to give them several acres of land high in the mountains if they would start a school for the children in this remote area. When they began, there were about 80 children in attendance; now there are 175 students! Ginger worked to train Haitian teachers, care for sickly children, and establish a wonderful foundation for education and relationship with American support. Jason helped establish the goat program, build school buildings, develop the mountain road up to Galgal, and educate the families in the area of agriculture.
Sadly, Ginger was diagnosed with aggressive cancer in April 2014 and passed away later that year. The Lovan family moved back to Oklahoma during this time. However, the ministry they began continues to thrive under Haitian leadership and American support.
In addition to providing a Christian education and daily meal for the children at King's Cross School, the ministry has grown to also oversee the church in Galgal, which has about 150 weekly attendees, along with partnering with In His Name Orphanage in Titanyen, Haiti, to provide their daily food needs. One of the most exciting aspects of what God began through the Lovan family is that the ministry continues to thrive under Haitian leadership, employing 17 Haitians as teachers, teacher assistants, cooks, pastor, goat keeper/groundskeeper, school director, and overall Haitian supervisor of King's Cross Ministries.
We invite you to join us in making a difference in an extremely remote area of the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Through education, nutrition, and the Gospel, the community of Galgal and the children at In His Name Orphanage are being impacted and stories are being changed because of people like you.
“The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'” Matthew 25:40
